IMF Approves $1.3B Loan for Bangladesh

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the release of $1.3 billion in loans to Bangladesh, covering the fourth and fifth installments of a broader support package, The Daily Star reports. Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur confirmed the approval.

This is the IMF’s first disbursement since the interim government took office. The fourth tranche was initially delayed as Bangladesh failed to meet several reform conditions.

After months of negotiations between Dhaka and Washington, both installments will now be released together this week, providing a significant financial boost amid ongoing economic challenges.
